Epinions still our best car so far, and probably the ideal urban vehicle

by  aczer,  Feb 20, 2005
Pros: excellent gas mileage, unrivaled reliability
Cons: rear seats don't fold down, but trunk is adequate for a small car
The Bottom Line: Best way to get around town
Review: Here is a July 2005 update after 27 months and 28,000 miles. Basically, the car still starts immediately and drives exactly the same way, whether the weather is hot or cold, wet or dry. It is so reliable that it could almost be called "boring" ...

Epinions I'm Happy with My Prius

by  ckenneth,  Aug 13, 2003
Pros: Extremely good gas mileage and very environmentally sound.
Cons: It's a little slow until you gather speed.
The Bottom Line: It's a great car if you constantly fret about the price of gas; extra bonus if you feel you're helping the environment. I would buy another given the opportunity.
Review: We bought our 2003 Prius (brilliant blue pearl) in Feb. 2003. We currently have 8600 miles on it! I absolutely LOVE this car for its economy. We average about 50 miles per gallon ( or - 4 miles). My husband and I started carpooling because it was so ...

Epinions Great Car!

by  dodgers1fan,  Dec 5, 2003
Pros: Great Value. Works Great in the Mountains.
Cons: No rear Windshield wiper. Back Seats don't fold down.
The Bottom Line: Great Car, Great Message if you talk the talk you had best drive the hybrid or walk.
Review: I love this car the only thing I would change or suggest would be that it was available in a convertible. And I want the Hybrid tag on the rear to be larger; I want everyone to know & see how cool a Hybrid is. I will upgrade with the 2004 once...

Epinions 10 Day Prius Rental

by  bha2000,  Jul 22, 2003
Pros: Good transportation, pretty decent mileage, adequate power
Cons: Legroom a bit short for tall drivers, fit and finish a bit weak.
The Bottom Line: It is a decent car but the 2004 is entirely redesigned so I don't know what value reviews of earlier models will be.
Review: I rented a 2003 Prius (EVRentals - associated with Budget) for 10 days at LAX in July. I did so beca ...

Epinions 2003 Toyota Prius

by  lovetoscuba,  Oct 7, 2003
Pros: Fuel Mileage, Fuel Mileage, & Fuel Mileage!!!
Cons: Fuel Mileage erratic, little options, high priced, batteries run down if not used regularly.
The Bottom Line: If you want fuel mileage and are willing to make sacrifices, this is your car!!!
Review: Let me get the bad stuff out of the way first. Fuel mileage is very erratic. I get between 39 mpg all the way up to 56 mpg. Still better than any car I have ever owned. This has a small car ride. It is a rough ride and you feel all the bumps and poth ...

Epinions Environment-friendly & technology advance but...!

by  budget2000,  Apr 17, 2003
Pros: save the air, save money and save time!
Cons: tires wear prematurely! 2004 model improves its shortcoming
The Bottom Line: Buy if you drive a lot. The other alternatives are Honda civic hybrid or ford focus (PZEV low emission rating).
Review: You should have read many reviews about Prius so I am not going to repeat that again. The reason that you are reading this comment is probably you want to buy a used one otherwise you are probably an unsatisfied owner of this car. This is an update ...

Epinions Toyota's failure to disclose Prius maintenance requirements

by  fmjustice,  Jun 3, 2003
Pros: Cute, purportedly clean emissions, conversation piece
Cons: Does NOT get advertised mileage, cannot garage car for more than 2 weeks
The Bottom Line: Avoid. If Toyota will not even put into writing its own interpretation of its own warranty and maintenance requirements, then there must be some problem that it wishes to hide.
Review: We have owned our 2003 Prius for 3 months and are very disappointed with it. Moreover, we are appalled by the outright hostility exhibited by Toyota customer service.

The paint: we keep our Prius in the garage when not in use. We chose the...
