by  ray_rwm,  May 28, 2002
Pros: Breakthrough product, one of a kind

The Bottom Line: nice piece of hardware, in needing of more user friendly/useful software for VCD/SVCD creation.
Review: If you have boxes and boxes of home movie video tapes sitting in the basement rutting away. You would think of a way to transfer them to a more permanent form, such as CD/DVD. Until recent I have found such a product, which is call UBS Instant DVD by...

Epinions ADS USB Instant DVD ($350.00 CAD)

by  diosnoche,  May 18, 2002
Pros: External USB device, front and rear inputs, rear outputs
Cons: No Power switch, circuit board inside in not securly mounted to the case
The Bottom Line: Hardware seems good, but software SUCKS! Can't use Adobe Premier to capture, and audio sink was not there. Very complicated user interface

Epinions brad's Experience

by  brad,  Sep 6, 2002
Pros: a few, but not many. the pros are wiped out by the con.
Cons: one con: audio capture. won't adequately capture audio, defeating the purpose.
The Bottom Line: doesn't get the job done. probably won't get the job done. audio capturing is relatively futile. audio problem sabotages the original mission.

Epinions A disaster for me

by  yoshimato,  Dec 17, 2002
Pros: Good price, works for NTSC and PAL. Video looks good on TV.
Cons: Video look bad on computer.
The Bottom Line: It works if you watch the video on TV only. Buy a factory reconditioned one and you may have better luck.
Review: Is this the functionally you really want?

My VCR suddenly retired itself one day. I asked myself whether I can do without VHS and go into DVD? I can, I don't remember what is the last time that I recorded something from the cable...

Epinions Almost a great product!!!!

by  grumpy82001,  Aug 17, 2002
Pros: Great idea, in theory
Cons: No power switch, totally unreliable, lousy customer support
The Bottom Line: If this thing worked it would be a dream product for vid capture. After the experiences I had with it, I couldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!!
Review: This is the single most frustrating experience I have ever had with a pc peripheral. When i unpacked the unit, hooked it
up and installed the software it worked like a dream....for 10 minutes. Beautiful dvd quality video! However next time i tried to...
