Redesigned in 1997 for the addition of Fords Triton engines, the Econoline offers a choice of 4.2 liter V-6, 4.6 liter and 5.4 liter V-8s and a monster 6.8 L V-10. All but the V-6 are advanced single overhead camshaft designs. The 4.6 has 215 hp, the 5.4 L has 235 hp and the V-10 a whopping 265 horsepower. Although its rated at 200 hp, avoid the V-6 if youre going to be hauling a significant load or pulling a trailer. Theres also a 215 hp 7.3 liter diesel. Towing capacity ranges from low of 3,700 pounds for the 4.2 L V-6 to a high of 10,000 pounds for the V-10 and diesel. Econolines are available as both cargo vans and club wagons with seating for up to 15 passengers. New for 1998 is standard air conditioning. Airbags and anti lock brakes are standard. Minimize
