About this projectHello dear Usenet-Newbie,This project was started to give you a very easy introduction to the topic Usenet. When I started this project September 2000, I had never thought that it could ever become this popular. The Usenet is one of the biggest international media for exchanging news. Using it is as easy as sending mail, but your message will be read by thousands of people all over the world, who all share the same interest as you. It has the charm of IRC, works similar like a mailing list, but it combines the best of all worlds. The following "chapters" build on each other, meaning you may have problems to understand chapter four, if you haven't read chapter three before. Terms are often explained in one chapter only, but are used regularly in all later chapters. Have fun, learn something, avoid mistakes, play nice and hopefully become a new member of this great worldwide community named Usenet. Regards, |
Major parts of the Usenet section of that site were originally hosted on TGOS.org as 'The Usenet Newbie Project', written by Markus Hanauska between 2001 and 2004.
